Swamibapa A on win away from NCCA 50 overs glory

Swamibapa A stand poised to clinch the Nairobi County Cricket Association's (NCCA) Super Division 50-Overs League 2026 championship on Sunday. Victory against Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj (SCLPS YL A) at the Samaj ground would see them secure an unassailable 52 points, marking their first-ever league title after years of near-misses.

The ambitious cricket team has consistently outperformed heavyweights such as Kanbis A and Ruaraka A in the 50-overs league this season. Currently at the summit of the table, Swamibapa A boast 12 wins and 2 losses, amassing 48 points with a commendable Net Run Rate of 1.316. Their rivals, Kanbis A and Sir Ali Muslim Club A, both sit at 36 points, with 3 games remaining each.

However, even if these teams clinch all their remaining games, Swamibapa A would retain the title if they triumph on Sunday. At the helm of the Swamibapas is national team superstar Sachin Gill, who previously led Ruaraka A to victory in the same title. Accompanying him is a strong batting lineup, including in-form batter Onkar Haresh Jadhav, who ranks fifth on the run charts with 776 runs from 13 innings at an impressive average of 77.60.

Captain Rushab Patel and batsman Dhwanil Patel are also expected to shine, with the latter sitting eighth on the runs' leaderboard with 613 runs from 12 innings. SCLPS YL A, despite their current seventh-place standing with 14 points from 12 matches, will face a stiff challenge at home, with their main batsman Hiren Kerai sitting in sixth place with 653 runs.

The league offers several other noteworthy fixtures, with SCLPS YL B securing the NCCA Division One 50-Overs League 2026 title, having won all 13 matches with an astounding net run rate of 2.914.
