Pemuda Umno Johor has urged employers to allow work from home or flexible working hours for parents affected by school closures due to haze. Noor Azleen Ambros, the group's leader, pointed out that many parents are in a dilemma as they are obligated to go to work while their children are left at home without supervision. While the decision to close schools for the health of students is fully justified, it also places an additional burden on working parents, according to Azleen.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, she noted, many sectors managed to remain productive through remote work, and the same approach should be adopted temporarily to help families cope with the current situation. Pemuda Umno Johor suggests that employers should allow parents with school-going children to work from home during the school closure period for relevant positions.

For employees who cannot work from home, the group urges employers to offer flexible working hours. They believe that this approach not only relieves parents' burden but also helps maintain productivity and boost employee morale. Pemuda Umno Johor is confident that with cooperation from all parties, the people of Johor can weather the haze crisis safely and securely.

All schools and educational institutions in Johor are closed for five more days due to haze and falling air quality, starting from October 12 to October 16. On October 7, Johor announced a two-day school closure due to haze and falling air quality. This decision was made based on the advice of Johor's Senior Minister, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, as a step to protect the safety and health of students.
