Flying Antelopes keen to stay top in Kano clash

Rangers International, reigning champions and current leaders, are set to clash with Barau in Kano on Sunday, October 11, at 4pm. The Enugu club holds a 16-point lead after five wins, a draw, and a loss from their first seven matches, including a recent 3-1 home victory over Abia Warriors. Maintaining their top position is a priority for Rangers.

Rivers United, the sole unbeaten team remaining, trails by one point with 15 points. They are scheduled to face Abia Warriors away on the same day, so a drop for either side could be damaging. Rangers face a pivotal CAF Champions League match against MC Alger shortly, and they will be keen to secure their lead before that fixture.

Barau started the season strongly with a 3-1 win over Nasarawa United, but they suffered a 4-1 defeat to Bendel Insurance at Benin, their first significant loss of the campaign. This loss left Barau fifth in the standings with 12 points, four behind Rangers, following three wins, three draws, and one loss from their seven matches.

The defending champions also began their season with a 1-1 draw at home to Katsina United, a reminder that they can struggle to secure points.
