Tony Blair Siblings: Meet Sarah and William James Lynton Blair

Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, was born on May 6, 1953, in Edinburgh, Scotland. He is the second child of Leo Charles Lynton Blair, a barrister and academic, and Hazel Elizabeth Rosaleen Blair. The family moved around during his childhood, spending time in Durham, England, after a period living in Adelaide, Australia.

Tony attended Chorister School in Durham and Fettes College in Edinburgh, before studying law at St John’s College, Oxford, graduating in 1975. He then became a barrister and married Cherie Booth in 1980, with whom he has four children. Tony's elder brother, William James Lynton Blair, was born on March 31, 1950, making him three years older than Tony.

William also attended Fettes College and Oxford before pursuing a successful legal career, specializing in financial and banking law, becoming a Queen’s Counsel in 1994, and holding senior judicial positions, including as a High Court judge. Tony and William shared experiences growing up, including their time in Australia as young children.

Sarah, Tony's younger sister, was born during their time in Adelaide, Australia, in the mid-1950s. She has largely kept a private life away from the public eye. Sarah was diagnosed with Still’s disease, a form of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, in her childhood. She has occasionally appeared in family contexts and was reportedly mugged in Islington in 1999, but has generally avoided the attention that surrounded her brother's political career.
