Melaka DAP sticks to PH going solo, contradicting PKR

Melaka DAP has reaffirmed its decision to contest the 14th November state election independently, in contrast to PKR's stance that the coalition remains open to collaboration with other parties. Melaka DAP leader Khoo Poay Tiong stated that all three parties within Pakatan Harapan (PH) have agreed to contest alone, with DAP aiming to secure eight seats.

He acknowledged the challenges ahead, noting that the emergence of a blue-green coalition in Johor and Negeri Sembilan could also affect Melaka. However, PKR chief Adam Adli emphasized that any electoral pact must be decided collectively by PH, and no decision had yet been made on cooperation with other parties. The coalition expressed openness to discussions with other parties, but insisted decisions should be made as PH.

Seat negotiations between DAP and Amanah are reportedly nearing completion, with both sides working towards an agreement acceptable to both. Meanwhile, PH leaders have provided conflicting views on potential cooperation with other parties for the Melaka polls, with PH election director Amirudin Shari reaffirming the coalition's openness to electoral pacts, despite Khoo's declaration of an independent contest.

PH has also reportedly been linked to a potential alliance with Bersatu, following a dinner with leaders from both parties. BN has indicated willingness to negotiate with potential partners, despite previously aiming to work with Perikatan Nasional. The Melaka election is scheduled for 14th November, with nominations due on October 31 and early voting beginning on November 10. There are 28 seats to be contested.
