Prospect Watch: Unbeaten Hussain Al Kurdi faces PFL Africa test
Hussain Al Kurdi will try to reach the final of the Professional Fighters League Africa lightweight tournament.
Unbeaten lightweight prospect Hussain Al Kurdi is set to face off against Demba Seck in a PFL Africa 3: 2026 Playoffs semifinal. The 155-pound tournament's semifinals will determine who advances to the main event finals. Al Kurdi, known as "Black Panther," boasts an impressive professional record of three wins, all coming via knockout or submission.
His victories include a third-round knockout and two rear-naked choke finishes, showcasing his well-rounded skills. Prior to his professional career, Al Kurdi accrued substantial amateur experience, winning medals at the 2022 IMMAF World Championships and the 2023 IMMAF Asian Championships, predominantly by stoppage. Despite his amateur success, Al Kurdi is poised to face his toughest test yet in Seck, a fighter who has previously stopped UFC featherweight Kurtis Campbell.
While Al Kurdi's skills and experience suggest he can reach the tournament final, he acknowledges there is room for improvement in his overall game.
