The Nationwide League One (NLO) has adjusted the start date of the 2026 Cup competition by one week, according to the DAILY POST. Previously slated for October 10th, the tournament will now begin on October 17th, 2026. This change was necessitated to accommodate more time for logistical preparations, ongoing maintenance at venues, and ensuring all administrative tasks are completed by participating clubs.
The NLO emphasized that this extension is in the competition's best interest and aims to ensure all arrangements are finalized before the start of the tournament. The official match fixtures are set to be released on Tuesday, October 13th, giving clubs ample time to prepare. The NLO acknowledged that this adjustment may impact logistical arrangements and travel plans for participants.
They appealed to all clubs to maintain their cooperation and continue preparations, highlighting that the 2026 NLO Cup is crucial for competitive opportunities and grassroots football development across Nigeria.
