Man City will win appeal over financial charges, says Maresca

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca has expressed confidence that the club will win its appeal against 114 charges of breaching the Premier League's financial rules. According to Maresca, he has absolute faith in the club's innocence and trusts that they will be vindicated.

Maresca, who signed a three-year contract at the Etihad Stadium in the summer, also stated that he would not have considered leaving the club even if they had been found guilty, saying there is no other club in the world he would rather be at. He claimed that their achievements in recent years are not tainted by the judgment that they benefited from more than £900m of disguised funding between 2009 and 2018.

Yahoo Sports reported that Maresca hinted he could even remain at City if they face relegation to League One as a punishment. Maresca had previously been Pep Guardiola's assistant during the Treble-winning campaign of 2022-23 and paid compensation to Chelsea after discussing the possibility of replacing Guardiola with City while still employed at Stamford Bridge.
