Magic: The Gathering at NYCC Live Blog – Get Ready For Darkhold Destiny
Earlier this year at MagicCon in Las Vegas, Wizards of the Coast revealed its in-universe sets for 2027, but that only covered three of the six planned sets. The other three are Universes Beyond — the card game's crossover brand — and now we know about another one, Darkhold Destiny, the new Marvel set.
Magic: The Gathering developers at NYCC have unveiled a new Marvel set named Darkhold Destiny, filling the gap left by the previous three sets revealed at MagicCon in Las Vegas. While the specifics of the cards and mechanics remain a mystery, the teaser suggests that Darkhold Destiny represents an original take on Marvel, better integrating with Magic's universe than the previous Marvel UB sets.
The Marvel UB sets, including Spider-Man and Marvel Superheroes, have received mixed reviews, with the latter being particularly underwhelming. Wizards of the Coast and Marvel teased Darkhold Destiny via a YouTube video, demonstrating promising early art that aligns with Magic's aesthetic. The official panel starts at 7:45 pm ET / 4:45 pm PT and will provide more details about the new set.
However, it's worth noting that the panel will not be streamed, but the reporter will be attending live to provide up-to-date information.
