Connelly's SO goal lifts Golden Knights past Maple Leafs 4-3 after rallying from a 3-goal deficit

The Vegas Golden Knights staged a remarkable comeback, overcoming a three-goal deficit to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in a shootout. Rookie Trevor Connelly secured the victory in the fifth round of the shootout with a backhand-forehand move, outplaying Toronto's goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. The Golden Knights came back from the deficit during overtime, with Braeden Bowman adding another shootout goal.

Kirill Marchenko was the sole successful shooter for Toronto, while Mark Stone, Brett Howden, and Jack Eichel were successful on penalty shots for Vegas. Hill showed exceptional performance, saving 21 shots and stopping four of Toronto's five shootout attempts. Jack Roslovic, Easton Cowan, and Nick Paul put Toronto ahead 3-0 in the first period, with Bobrovsky making 40 saves.

Roslovic broke the deadlock 34 seconds into his 600th career game and scored again at 8:37. Cowan and Paul extended the lead to 3-0 at 8:37. Stone initiated the comeback 17:36 into the first period, assisted by Eichel, who extended his assist and point streak to five games. Howden capitalized on Mitch Marner's pass at 1:12 of the second period before Eichel tied the game on a penalty shot at 3:58.

Eichel has scored three goals and amassed 12 points in five games. Despite outshooting Toronto 43-24, Vegas failed to capitalize on a power play, their first game without a power-play goal this season. Up next, the Maple Leafs will visit Colorado on Saturday, while the Golden Knights host Los Angeles on Saturday.
