BYD in talks to bring ultra-fast charging technology to Pakistan

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is in discussions with local partner Mega Motor Company to bring its cutting-edge ultra-fast charging technology to Pakistan, aiming to boost the adoption of new energy vehicles in the country. BYD's Vice President, Liu Xueliang, revealed that the company is in talks with Mega Motor to introduce the technology, which is powered by their second-generation Blade Battery.

This advanced technology, known as Mega Flash Charging, significantly cuts charging time, making electric vehicles far more practical for everyday use.

Liu emphasized that the technology is specifically designed for next-generation vehicles with the new battery platform. However, existing BYD vehicles will still be compatible with the charging infrastructure, albeit at varying speeds. The introduction of this technology in Pakistan will depend on infrastructure readiness, stakeholder discussions, and future product planning.

BYD is also set to establish a manufacturing plant in Pakistan, which is nearing its launch in the second half of 2026. The plant, BYD's sixth outside of China, will have a production capacity of 25,000 units annually, with a potential increase to 50,000 units per annum. This manufacturing facility is expected to generate over 1,100 jobs, contribute to sustainable industrialization, and help reduce CO2 emissions by an estimated 165,000 tonnes by 2034.
