Budget 2027: Another 100,000 Free AI Subscriptions For Youths; ChatGPT To Be Included

Budget 2027 has announced an additional 100,000 free AI subscriptions for Malaysian youths, with ChatGPT set to be included in the initiative. The plan follows a successful response to the current program, which launched in July and requires participants aged 18-30 to complete AI-related courses on the Rakyat Digital portal. Following completion, they receive three months of access to selected AI tools, such as Google’s Gemini Enterprise, YTL’s ILMUchat, Alibaba’s MuleRun, and WonderClip.

The government plans to expand the initiative to cover more applications and develop a sovereign AI cloud to ensure national control over citizens' data and strategic information. Anwar Ibrahim highlighted the importance of youths mastering future-oriented fields, such as coding, data science, and quantum technology. To strengthen the AI ecosystem, RM6 billion will be allocated for research, development, and commercialisation, while AI Malaysia Bhd will receive RM15 million to support the development of 200,000 skilled AI workers.

Additionally, RM30 million will be provided by Malaysian Digital Economy Corp to assist 4,000 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in adopting AI in their operations.
