Bethesda School wins Bible quiz for blind students

The Bethesda School for the Blind emerged victorious in the eighth edition of the "You Can Be Their Eyes" Bible Quiz competition, organized by the Bible Society of Nigeria. The contest, which took place on Thursday at the Salvation Army, Igbobi Corps, Somolu, Lagos, pitted Bethesda against Pacelli School for the Blind. Despite both schools ending the competition with 75 points, Bethesda claimed first place after a tie-breaker.

The other schools ranked third and fourth with 40 and 20 points, respectively. The competition aimed to challenge and support visually impaired students while promoting their potential. Pastor Isaac Adeyemi, the chairman of the event, emphasized the importance of not allowing physical limitations to hinder one's growth. He drew inspiration from the biblical account of Bartimaeus, who sought restoration of sight rather than temporary assistance.

The Bible Society of Nigeria, led by General Secretary/CEO Pastor Samuel Sanusi, has sustained the program for eight years through divine guidance. Sanusi encouraged the government and individuals to increase support for people living with disabilities. All participating schools received school bags and white canes, with winners receiving plaques and monetary prizes.
