Anambra Attorney General probes police, court bailiffs’ clash

The Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke, has established a fact-finding committee to investigate a physical altercation between police officers and court bailiffs during the enforcement of a court order. This incident gained public attention following the circulation of a video on social media, which depicted an attempt by some police officers to arrest a court bailiff executing a court judgment.

The confrontation resulted in a physical fight, prompting criticism and varied reactions from the public. The video and reported statements from individuals who believe they are court bailiffs criticizing a police officer were shared with the Attorney General. The Ministry of Justice received multiple complaints about offenses related to the incident, leading to the initiation of the investigation.

Nneka Umeozulu, the Director of Public Prosecutions, conveyed the Attorney General's decision to form the committee in a statement. She urged all parties involved to remain calm and patient while the investigation progresses.
