Trump awards top US science, technology medals to Musk, 5 tech executives
WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Thursday awarded the nation’s highest science and technology honours to six tech executives, including Elon Musk, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
President Donald Trump honored six prominent technology executives with the nation's highest science and technology awards at the New Golden Age Summit in Washington, DC. Among the recipients were SpaceX founder Elon Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, AMD CEO Lisa Su, Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
Trump praised Musk, calling him "our modern-day Thomas Edison" and stating that Musk has "done more than anyone else" to advance America's national interest. He also commended Huang, noting that "the entire world is now running on Nvidia," referring to the company's significant impact.
Trump expressed confidence in the nation's continued dominance in science and technology, asserting that "there is nobody that can compete with us, nobody." He further emphasized his administration's commitment to scientific progress by signing an order on quantum computing and setting a goal to deliver a quantum computer for scientific discovery by 2028.
Additionally, Trump announced the creation of the Genesis Mission, aiming to solve some of the most significant mysteries in science and technology through the use of superintelligence. Earlier this week, the administration brokered a White House accord on superintelligence, ensuring America's continued leadership in the field.
