Elizabeth Banks-Led Karen Read Series Ordered At Prime Video

Prime Video has ordered a new series about Karen Read, starring and executive produced by Elizabeth Banks. The series is inspired by the Law&Crime and Audible Original podcast "Karen", which centers on a high-profile murder case that accused Read of killing her boyfriend, a Boston police officer.

The untitled project is an eight-episode drama series produced by Warner Bros. Television, with Brownstone Productions, David E. Kelley Productions, Audible, and Law&Crime serving as executive producers. According to TheWrap, the series begins with the discovery of the officer's body in the snow during a blizzard, with all eyes turning to his girlfriend, Karen Read.

As the story unfolds, Read and her legal team claim she is innocent and a victim of a conspiracy, which sparks a divisive obsession with true crime in the community. Elizabeth Banks, who grew up in Massachusetts and witnessed the case's impact on local communities, expressed her interest in the project, stating that the case divided families, friends, and entire towns.
