Ana I. Pereda, ganadora del IX Premio de Periodismo Económico Rosa del Río

Ana I. Pereda, the Director of EXPANSIÓN, has been announced as the winner of the IX edition of the Rosa del Río Economic Journalism Prize, organized by the Association of European Journalists and sponsored by KPMG, Telefónica, Endesa, Ibercaja, Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME), with the collaboration of several other organizations.

The jury, chaired by Luis de Guindos, former ECB Vice-President, included Miguel Ángel Aguilar, General Secretary of the Association of European Journalists; Salvador Arancibia, journalist; Jordi Fábrega, head of economics at SER; Mariano Guindal, columnist for La Vanguardia; Miguel Jiménez, Deputy Director of El País; Rafa Latorre, Director of Mús de Uno on Cope Radio; Lorena López Prieto, Director of Communications at KPMG; Belén Molleda, Head of Digital Economics at EFE; Javier Montalvo, Deputy Director of EXPANSIÓN; Miguel Ángel Noceda, former FAPE President; Emilia Pérez, Director of International Affairs at EFE; and Carlos Sánchez, Deputy Director of El Confidencial.

The jury praised Ana I. Pereda for her significant contributions to economic journalism over the years, particularly in her leadership of EXPANSIÓN and her ability to adapt the newspaper to the new reality of digital journalism while maintaining its written journalism perspective. The jury also highlighted her strong commitment to information and her relentless pursuit of news stories.

Ana I. Pereda is a graduate in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and a PDG from IESE Business School. She has over thirty years of professional experience in journalism and media management, with a particular focus on economic and business news. She started her career as an economic news reporter for Actualidad Económica, where she later became the director.

She was also a founding member of EXPANSIÓN and worked professionally in London for the Financial Times. Before joining ABC, she was the Deputy Director of Qu! newspaper. Since 2010, she has been the Director of EXPANSIÓN, the leading newspaper in economic and business news, where she has consolidated an extensive career in covering economic and financial news and analyzing its key players and trends.

The Economic Journalism Rosa del Río Prize was established in 2018 to recognize outstanding journalistic work and contributions in economic, financial, and/or stock market journalism, highlighting talent, originality, outreach, teaching ability, and the ability to withstand pressure. The prize, which has always had the collaboration of BME Bolsas y Mercados Españoles, aims to recognize journalistic values of honesty, rigor, clarity, and independence, as well as outstanding journalistic careers or works in economic, financial, and/or stock market journalism.

Ana I. Pereda joins the ranks of Mariano Guindal, Miguel Ángel Noceda, Rosa María Sánchez, Salvador Arancibia, Carlos Sánchez, Ignacio Rodríguez Burgos, Yolanda Gómez, and Miguel Jiménez, who have been awarded in the eight previous editions. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 18th, at 7:00 PM at the headquarters of the Madrid Stock Exchange.
