São Paulo — According to data released by industry group ABPA, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the leading destination for Brazilian chicken exports in September, importing 45,900 metric tons, representing a 23.3% increase from September 2025. Saudi Arabia followed as another key importer, purchasing 38,300 metric tons, marking a 7.4% increase from the previous year.

The European Union, China, and Japan rounded out the top five destinations. Overall, Brazilian chicken exports grew by 3.7% month-over-month, totaling 500,300 metric tons for the month, a 14% increase year-over-year. In dollar terms, this brought in USD 984.2 million, a 14.7% rise from September 2025. By the end of September, Brazilian chicken exports had reached 4.4 million metric tons, a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

ABPA President Ricardo Santin noted that while September 2025 saw the return to normalcy after a suspension due to highly pathogenic avian influenza, the UAE's substantial imports underscore the strength of Brazilian exports, with the EU purchases certified by September 2 and no longer impacted by the bloc's temporary ban. The strong performance is attributed to diversification efforts and strategic shipments organized by the ministries of Development, Industry, Trade, Services, and Agriculture and Livestock.
