Trump to give Musk top US science medal

President Donald Trump is set to honor tech magnates Elon Musk, Sergei Brin, Jensen Huang, Lisa Su, Michael Dell, and Satya Nadella with prestigious US scientific accolades at the Science: A New Golden Age summit on Thursday. The National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation will be conferred upon these leaders who have significantly contributed to innovation, ensuring America's global leadership in technology.

The White House expressed gratitude for their contributions, noting Musk's recent return to Trump's favor following their falling out over his role in the Department of Government Efficiency. Musk, along with Huang, attended Trump's state dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping last month, and the group also met with the President at the White House to discuss self-regulation against potential AI threats.

Despite Trump's skepticism about AI's potential to eliminate humanity, he continues to emphasize its importance for the US economy during his second term. However, the Republican Party may face losses in the upcoming midterm elections due to concerns over the Iran war and the cost of living.
