ODM says Oburu Oginga is well, dismisses social media reports on his health

The Office of ODM Party Leader Dr. Oburu Oginga has refuted false and malicious reports circulating on social media regarding the veteran politician's health. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the office declared Oburu to be "well, safe, and in good spirits." At the time the reports surfaced, Oburu was actively preparing for the official speech he would deliver at the handover ceremony of the Raila Odinga Mausoleum at Kang’o ka Jaramogi.

The communication from the secretariat detailed that while Oburu was observing his doctors' advice to rest and minimize strenuous physical activity, he remained connected to party and national affairs through updates and engagement. The office specifically criticized social media posts, including those allegedly made by Maverick Aoko, for disseminating unverified information about Oburu's health.

They urged the public and media to only trust official channels for any updates on the ODM leader's well-being. The secretariat also mentioned that they were in contact with party leadership regarding the matter and hinted at potential legal action against those spreading misinformation. The communiqué emphasized the need to end cyber bullying and the intentional spread of false information targeting party leaders.

The statement was officially released by the Dr. Oburu Oginga Secretariat, Office of the Party Leader.
