AEDC targets 100% metering to end estimated billing

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) is aiming for 100 per cent metering of its customers in order to eradicate estimated billing and enhance service quality across its service area. With over 1.2 million customers, the company unveiled its new digital platform, MyPower, during a launch event in Abuja. MyPower offers customers the ability to manage accounts, make payments, lodge complaints and verify AEDC staff visits.

As of June 30, 2026, AEDC had already reached an 81.38 per cent metering rate, with 1,142,283 out of 1,403,657 active registered customers equipped with meters. AEDC MD Chijioke Okwuokenye emphasized that the metering goal is part of a broader initiative to boost customer satisfaction and give consumers control over their electricity consumption.

The platform also enables customers to engage more effectively with AEDC, receive timely updates on service issues, and monitor power consumption in real-time in the future.
