SIBU, October 6 — Three sizable crocodiles, ranging in length from 2.44 to 4.75 meters, were recently captured over the past three days in the Batang Igan river near Ulu Kampung Kebuaw, Igan. Licensed crocodile hunter Jeferry Siew Seng Kwong revealed that the largest of the trio, measuring 4.75 meters and estimated to weigh 500 kilograms, was caught around 2:30 am today by his team of four, aided by local villagers.
The residents approached Jeferry's team for assistance due to frequent crocodile sightings in the area, including a concerning incident where a crocodile had attacked a pet dog. Jeferry explained that the operation commenced on October 3, resulting in the capture of three crocodiles thus far. Two of these crocodiles measured 2.44 meters and 2.74 meters respectively, captured on October 4 and 5 before the largest specimen was netted.
Among their findings was a nest containing approximately 40 crocodile eggs. Jeferry extended his gratitude to the residents of Kampung Kebuaw for their cooperation and teamwork throughout the operation, as well as to the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) for their support. Since acquiring a license to hunt crocodiles two years ago, Jeferry has captured over 100 reptiles.
