Retired Naval Commander Kamaljeet Singh Bhatti was targeted in a staged bag-snatching incident on Khairane Road in Navi Mumbai. Two youths signaled to him that his car had an oil leak, causing him to stop. Once he checked the vehicle, they allegedly stole his laptop bag containing a laptop, mobile phone, and important documents.
Police recovered the bag within hours after receiving information about its location via the stolen phone. Bhatti praised the prompt police action, which prevented a major loss and restored his confidence in the police force. Authorities advised motorists to stay alert if strangers signal them to stop over an alleged defect and not to open car doors or bonnets unnecessarily.
