Mobilfunk: Xing-Gründer startet 10-Euro-Tarif – Neue Konkurrenz für die Telekom

Düsseldorf - Lars Hinrichs, the founder of Xing, is launching a new mobile tariff called Simsalasim for just 10 euros per month, according to reports from Bild and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung. This move aims to challenge industry giants such as Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone.

Hinrichs, who previously served on the supervisory board of Deutsche Telekom for over eleven years, is set to introduce the service next week. However, he has not yet responded to inquiries about the new offering.

The Simsalasim Germany GmbH was registered in the business register in September 2024, a period of about six months before Hinrichs resigned from his supervisory position at Deutsche Telekom.

A spokesperson for the Telekom criticized the move, stating that the former Xing founder had access to internal company details during his tenure.

The Simsalasim tariff promises unlimited calls, SMS, and data in 50 countries, as well as 100 countries. However, it does not allow for hotspot usage for computers and laptops.

Simsalasim plans to integrate an AI assistant that will be able to record, translate, and reroute calls. The mobile network for this service will utilize the capacities of O2's parent company, Telefónica.
