Messi: Animated Character and Executive Producer of His Own Disney+ Series

Lionel Messi, the renowned Argentine soccer star, is venturing into the world of animation and executive production with his own series set to premiere on Disney+ in 2027. Titled "Messi and the Giants," this animated series draws inspiration from the iconic athlete’s childhood and personality, but reimagines the narrative within a fantasy universe.

The story centers around Leo, a 12-year-old boy who, after an unexpected event, finds himself in a world inhabited by giants. As the protagonist, Leo must navigate a series of challenges to return home, combining elements of fantasy and soccer-themed situations. Messi will serve as the executive producer, further expanding his influence beyond professional football into the realm of entertainment.

The series is set to be a Disney+ original, developed in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television, Sony Music Vision, and Atlantis Animation. The project has already generated interest following a teaser trailer presented at the Malaga Comic-Con, providing a glimpse into the visual and narrative concepts. "Messi and the Giants" is not an animated biography but rather a fictional adaptation inspired by Messi's childhood, using his name and traits for a fantasy adventure.

The narrative emphasizes perseverance, teamwork, and individual effort, with Leo relying on his soccer skills to overcome obstacles rather than supernatural abilities. While the character shares Messi's name and some characteristics, the series presents a unique interpretation of the athlete as a young boy in a fantastical world, teaching valuable lessons about cooperation and problem-solving.
