Casting News: Lucy Hale Is Scarlett Holmes, Gavin & Stacey Reunion, And More

Lucy Hale is set to star and executive produce the upcoming Sherlock Holmes-inspired romance series titled "Scarlett Holmes" on the Roku Channel, scheduled for a 2027 release. The limited series follows Scarlett, a modern descendant of Sherlock Holmes, who uses her family's power of observation to tackle romantic mysteries. She is aided by her sidekick Jane Watson, and each episode is inspired by a beloved romantic comedy.

However, Scarlett's own love life proves challenging, especially when she falls for Ollie Moriarty, a charming podcast producer who is secretly working on an exposé about her methods. The series is produced by Jaggi Entertainment, with Sophie Tilson, Steve Jaggi, Paris Herbert-Taylor, Katie Wilbert, Morgan Pichinson, and Sabrina Lyall involved in the production and development.

Brian Tannenbaum, head of Roku originals, praised Hale's wit, warmth, and comedic instincts, stating that she is the perfect creative partner to bring "Scarlett Holmes" to life. Hale, known for her roles in "Pretty Little Liars," "F*** Marry Kill," and "The Hating Game," expressed her excitement for the fresh and playful take on the rom-com genre.
