2027: Otti warns against violence during electioneering campaign

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has cautioned against violence during the 2027 electioneering campaign, stating that the state has created a peaceful and open environment for political activities. During his inauguration of the Labour Party Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, Otti emphasized that violence would not be tolerated.

He directed security agencies to provide a level playing field for all political campaigns and mentioned that the directive was to ensure free campaigning without intimidation or violence. Otti noted that independent candidacy was not yet allowed in Nigeria, making cooperation among party groups essential. He encouraged party candidates to collaborate with their party leadership and stakeholders to achieve their objectives.

Otti assured that the state campaign council would coordinate the efforts of individual campaign councils while holding members accountable for mobilizing support in their areas. The governor also appointed Ude Chukwu as the chairman of the Campaign Advisory Council, which would complement the main council.
