Houston Texans coach DeMeco Ryans has harshly criticized his defense's performance in the team's 34-30 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Ryans, who has been leading the Texans since 2023, has struggled to achieve results in his fourth season. The team had fallen to the bottom of the standings after losing their first four games of the season.
Ryans emphasized that the defense was "not good enough" in the Cowboys game, failing to prevent a 30-point offensive outburst by Dallas. He expressed disappointment with the team's inability to close out tough contests. Ryans urged the Texans to "stick together" and work collectively on improving their performances both offensively and defensively. He directed his own self-assessment towards identifying areas for improvement.
The Texans now face the Tennessee Titans in Week 5 on October 11, as they search for their first win of the season.
