Keys before kickoff: Cowboys at Texans Week 4

The Dallas Cowboys are set to face the Houston Texans in Week 4, with several key factors influencing the outcome of the game. The Texans' pass rush ranks among the top four in the NFL, led by Will Anderson Jr., who has been particularly effective on the right side of the line. Anderson Jr.'s pass rush win rate is currently at 22%, despite facing double teams 41.5% of the time.

His run-defense grade of 91.1 also ranks him among the best edges in the league. Meanwhile, Houston's offensive tackle, Terence Steele, has struggled this season and is often left exposed on the right side of the line. The Cowboys will likely target Steele with help from Tyler Guyton, who has been a valuable development for the team.

A significant addition to the Texans' roster is Nico Collins, who has returned from injury and is crucial to their offense. Collins' return will put pressure on the Cowboys' secondary, particularly with their struggling pass rush. The Texans' new cornerback, Joey Porter Jr., is expected to make his debut against the Dallas secondary.

Porter Jr., who has been recovering from a back injury, was previously successful against Collins, allowing only two catches for 17 yards in their previous matchup. The Cowboys will need to focus on containing Porter Jr. in man coverage on crucial down situations, as he is best utilized as a physical, man corner in this scenario.

To secure a victory, the Cowboys must address the issues of Anderson Jr. and Steele while effectively utilizing Porter Jr. If they can neutralize these key Texans players, the Cowboys have a strong chance of winning their first game of the season. Failure to do so could result in another disappointing outcome for the winless Texans team.
