‘Sicario 3’ Moving Ahead With Original Stars Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro

"Sicario 3" is officially in development, with the return of the original stars Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Benicio del Toro. The film, set to be directed by "The Weight" filmmaker Padraic McKinley, is being produced by Black Label Media and Thunder Road. The script for the film will be written by Steven Knight, who penned the second film in the series.

While the plot details remain undisclosed, the previous two films were written by Taylor Sheridan, who has since transitioned to overseeing a significant television empire for Paramount+. Christopher McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen, known for their work on the "Mission: Impossible" films, previously drafted a script for a third installment.

Notable producers for the film include Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill from Black Label Media, and Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee from Thunder Road. McKinley, who directed his debut film "The Weight" at Sundance, is set to begin production early next year. Blunt, Brolin and del Toro have all had busy years with various film projects, but the third "Sicario" will be their latest collaboration.
