397 CHPS compounds, 502 classroom blocks completed under DACF projects – Mahama Ayariga
The government has completed hundreds of health, education, and water projects across the country through funding channelled to local assemblies, Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Mahama Ayariga said.
In a recent Government Accountability Series, Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Mahama Ayariga announced the completion of numerous social sector projects funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF). Speaking on October 5, Ayariga highlighted the positive impact of increased DACF resources on the progress of key initiatives in health, education, and water sectors across the country.
Of the 566 CHPS compounds and health centres planned under the programme, 397 have been completed, ensuring better healthcare infrastructure for communities. Additionally, 502 out of the 761 classroom blocks targeted have been constructed, enhancing educational facilities for students nationwide.
The water sector has also seen significant advancements, with 3,081 out of 4,029 mechanised and hand-pump boreholes installed, along with 97 Small Town Water Projects. Ayariga emphasized that these accomplishments are more than mere statistics; they represent tangible capital empowering local assemblies to establish educational institutions, develop healthcare facilities, implement water supply systems, and improve sanitation infrastructure.
He further noted that several sanitation-related facilities are either completed or in various stages of implementation across Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies.
