UAE add a second equestrian silver medal to Asian Games tally

The United Arab Emirates added another equestrian silver medal to their tally at the 2026 Asian Games, with Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi and Hudson de Vains claiming the silver following a tense jump-off at JRA Equestrian Park in Tokyo. This silver medal follows the one won by UAE riders in the team final on Thursday, bringing the UAE's overall medal count at the Asian Games to 12 - seven gold, four silver, and one bronze.

Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi, riding Mentos, narrowly missed a medal, finishing fourth in Competition A. Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi and Enjoy de la Mure finished sixth, while Sheikha Latifah Bint Ahmed Al Maktoum and Cornet XL took seventh place in the newly introduced 1.55m Competition B.

Al Muhairi expressed his satisfaction with the silver medal, acknowledging the inherent ups and downs of the sport. He praised Hudson de Vains, who showed great quality, scope, and temperament in his first competition at this level. The UAE team's dramatic conclusion to the medal race included a fence down by Qatar's Faleh Alajmi, which allowed Abdullah to enter the arena intending to secure gold. However, increasing his pace led to a fault at a challenging oxer, resulting in a fourth-place finish.

In the higher-level Competition B, Emirates Jumping's Al Marzooqi and Sheikha Latifah demonstrated an excellent clear round aboard Enjoy de la Mure, finishing sixth overall. Despite two fences down in the decisive round, Sheikha Latifah remained proud of her performance, recognizing her horse's commitment and the result not fully reflecting her efforts.
