Police arrest two suspects over cult-related murder in Delta Community, recover dangerous weapons

Operatives from the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) have apprehended two suspects in relation to the murder of a 25-year-old man, identified as Godfrey, which occurred on March 24, 2026, in Jesse Main market, Ethiope-West Local Government Area of Delta State. The suspects, Ezekiel Sunday Izomor 'm', aged 23, and Emmanuel Ogaganefe 'm', also aged 23, were arrested on October 1, 2026, in Oghara community, according to a report by DAILY POST.

The police recovered a battle axe, four cutlasses, and a hammer from the suspects, as confirmed by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, in a statement to their correspondent in Warri. Edafe explained that the VCRU acted on credible intelligence from a viral video of suspected cultists celebrating the murder of a fellow suspected cultist. They stormed a suspected criminal hideout in Oghara and arrested the duo in connection with Godfrey's killing.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the fleeing suspects, identified as Collins, aimed to become the number one man in the Aro bagger confraternity and needed to murder a rival cult member for his goal. Collins conspired with the two arrested suspects and a close friend of the victim, Richman, in this heinous crime. The other two suspects, Richman and Collins, are at large, but the police are intensifying efforts to apprehend them. The arrested suspects are currently in custody and assisting with the ongoing investigation.
