PlatinumGames boss hints he wants to expand Bayonetta as Stellar Blade director calls the series "indispensable"

PlatinumGames' president Atsushi Inaba expressed his desire to expand the Bayonetta franchise and its universe, though he refrained from confirming a new game. Inaba revealed his interest in the character during a discussion with Shift Up CEO and Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung-tae at Tokyo Game Show. At the event, four Bayonetta-themed costumes became available in Stellar Blade Complete Edition on Switch 2.

Kim praised Bayonetta, describing it as an "indispensable work in my life" and listing it among his top three favorite games. He even playfully asked to design characters for the next installment, jokingly requesting to take on the task himself.

Inaba, however, declined to provide details about a potential new entry, suggesting that fans wait and see. The Bayonetta series, created by Hideki Kamiya, was originally envisioned as a nine-part saga, but Kamiya left PlatinumGames in October 2023, stating that he might take the series to its conclusion with him. Stellar Blade's director, Yusuke Miyata, also departed from the company.

If Bayonetta returns to the franchise, it may not include her original Japanese voice actress, Atsuko Tanaka, who passed away in August 2024 at the age of 61.
