In 1994, Don Williams paid $1.35 million for 1.137 acres near Maui’s Maʻalaea Harbor. More than three decades later, Hawaiʻi’s Intermediate Court of Appeals vacated a Circuit Court judgment awarding $7 million in his long-running eminent-domain case. The appellate court found competing valuation evidence created factual disputes requiring further proceedings over just compensation.
