Janashakthi Group (JXG) honoured the graduates of Spartans I, the first batch of its Management Trainee Programme, during a recent graduation ceremony held at Hilton Colombo Residences. The ceremony signified the conclusion of an 18-month development program, which saw the cohort move into their new professional roles with placements at JXG and its subsidiaries, including First Capital, Janashakthi Life, and Janashakthi Finance.
The program aimed to provide young talent with comprehensive exposure, business understanding, experience, and relationships, as well as prepare them for greater responsibilities within the organisation. The graduation ceremony, themed 'Beginning to Becoming', showcased the Spartans I graduates' experiences, growth, and transformation throughout the program.
They shared their reflections on the past 18 months before the "Honouring Excellence" segment, which acknowledged their achievements. In his keynote address, Ramesh Schaffter, Managing Director and Group CEO of JXG, emphasized that graduation marked the start of a bigger professional journey rather than an end. He encouraged the graduates to convert their exposure into business understanding, take ownership, continue learning, build strong relationships, innovate, and consistently develop themselves and others as they progress within the company.
Wasanthi Stephen, Group Chief Human Resources Officer of JXG, highlighted that the Spartans programme was designed to enable young talent to learn, grow, and build meaningful careers within the Group. She expressed her optimism for the graduates' future contributions to JXG as they continue to 'Break Barriers, Forging Futures'.
