Police have apprehended three classmates in connection with the fatal assault of 16-year-old Irene Sofiya Mohd Khairool Faisal, according to investigators probing the brutal murder. The suspects, all teenagers aged 16, were taken into custody just hours after the victim's lifeless body was discovered inside a school hall in Yong Peng.
The suspects were identified following the tragic discovery of Irene's body with severe physical trauma and dried bloodstains on Saturday evening. One of the minors will appear before the Batu Pahat Magistrate’s Court on Sunday to secure a formal remand order as authorities strive to conclude their investigation. Irene had not returned home after attending afternoon tuition classes, leading her family to search the school premises and find her lifeless body near a shattered ceramic vase.
