Former NFL standout Cris Carter highlighted a key obstacle hindering Deion Sanders' potential return to Florida State. Carter explained that Sanders lacks the coaching record to justify Florida State paying a significant buyout to replace their current head coach. The Colorado Buffaloes, under Sanders' leadership, opened their season with a 2-0 record but subsequently lost two games, revealing significant depth issues.
Without his own children, Shedeur and Travis Sanders, leading the roster, recruiting limitations have impeded Sanders' progress towards more prestigious programs. Carter pointed out that Sanders' coaching resume may not be strong enough for Florida State's board of directors to consider a substantial buyout. Instead, Carter believes that Jimbo Fisher might be the candidate to fill that position due to his overall record and the support from Florida State's network.
