Why Caleb Trask From Netflix's East Of Eden Looks So Familiar
If you're binge-watching your way through Netflix's "East of Eden" and you can't shake the feeling that you recognize Caleb Trask from somewhere, here's why.
Joseph Zada, an Australian actor, is gaining attention for his role as Caleb Trask in Netflix's adaptation of East of Eden. Familiar to some, Zada has also appeared in the Hunger Games: Sunrise trailers, playing a younger version of tribute-turned-mentor Haymitch Abernathy. He expressed excitement and nervousness about joining the franchise, describing it as a tribute experience.
Zada previously starred in the Prime Video series We Were Liars and has been working in the industry since his 2019 film debut. His career took off early, leading him to drop out of school to pursue acting. He had been advised not to watch the 1955 film adaptation of East of Eden, featuring James Dean, to ensure his performance remained unique.
Writer and showrunner Zoe Kazan wanted him to capture her vision of the character. With his growing presence in both East of Eden and the Hunger Games prequel, Zada is expected to have more roles in the future.
