The Lord is with us, come 2028, we shall prevail - Afenyo-Markin tells NPP, Minority

New Patriotic Party (NPP) minority leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has rallied party delegates in Kumasi, Ghana, to rally behind the reorganization of the party and its prospects for winning the 2028 general election. Confronting the divide caused by the party's 2024 electoral defeat, Afenyo-Markin reminded the delegates that the party would overcome the setback through collective effort, exclaiming, "Come 2028, we shall prevail."

Some party members experienced a psychological toll following the 2024 defeat, losing confidence in the NPP and retreating from active party engagement, he noted. However, Afenyo-Markin emphasized that the party's focus should now be on healing those wounds and rebuilding the organization ahead of the upcoming polls. "I have not come to Kumasi today to tell you the wound of 2024 is small. I came to tell you it can heal, and I came to tell you we will heal it. It will be you and I. It will be all of us."

The National Delegates Conference serves as a key platform for completing the internal reorganization and fortifying the party's structures in preparation for the 2028 elections, he explained. The conference's primary objectives include finalizing proposed constitutional amendments and restructuring the party's organizational framework.

Afenyo-Markin urged delegates and party members to rally behind the NPP's presidential candidate and the National Council in their quest to secure parliamentary candidates across all 276 constituencies. He stressed that the concerted efforts of party members would be crucial to the party's preparations for the 2028 general election.
