Pro-Israel advocates hound Green Party members over 'Zionism is Racism' motion

Pro-Israel activists have been seen and heard shouting abuse at Green Party members outside the party's conference in Brighton on 3 October 2026. The Green Party member, Lubna Speitan, is the author of a motion that calls for Zionism to be declared a form of racism, which has become the center of controversy. Dozens of pro-Israel demonstrators gathered outside the conference venue, chanting slogans such as "Terrorist supporters off our streets" and "There's no Palestine, there is no Palestine."

They held signs like "Stand up to racist Greens" and "Anti Zionism = terrorism." Some even waved Israeli flags, while a few displayed combined Israeli and Indian flags. Speitan addressed the protesters in an interview with Middle East Eye, emphasizing the importance of confronting all forms of racism, discrimination, genocide, and the Holocaust. She made it clear that not all Jews are Zionist and not all Zionists are Jewish.
