Mizoram State University: Lunglei Family Donates 12 Bighas Of Land As CM Lalduhoma Welcomes Site Finalisation

Lunglei family has donated 12 bighas of land for the proposed Mizoram State University, with Chief Minister Lalduhoma receiving the land donation document on Friday, according to an official statement. The land donation took place at the Lunglei HPC Conference Hall, which houses the Lunglei High Powered Committee. The donation is significant as it finalizes the site for the university, which the Centre has given the state government 15 years to establish.

While several requirements, including buildings, roads, water and electricity infrastructure, and faculty recruitment, need to be completed, the government is working on plans to start preliminary activities, including the opening of an office, and will develop the university in phases according to requirements. After initially considering Aizawl as the main hub, the government shifted the center to Lunglei following public pressure, and the 2026 Amendment to the Mizoram State University Bill officially moved the proposed institution's headquarters to Lunglei in the southern part of the state.
