Husband and wife killed, two daughters seriously injured in Kluang crash

Kluang police chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh reported that a tragic accident occurred at kilometre 72.5 of Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing, where a husband and wife were killed, while their two daughters faced serious injuries. The accident involved a lorry driven by a 34-year-old man and a Hyundai Matrix driven by a 54-year-old local man. Investigations revealed that the Hyundai Matrix lost control due to slippery road conditions, crossed into the opposite lane, and collided with the lorry.

The car driver and his wife, aged 54 and 49 respectively, were pronounced dead at the scene due to severe head and bodily injuries. Their two daughters, aged 24 and 21, were also seriously injured and are currently receiving treatment in the Emergency Department at Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital. The lorry driver was not injured.

The case is under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. Firefighters and rescue teams arrived at the scene at 4:53pm and successfully removed the victims from the car before pronouncing them dead.
