Anker Nano 45W Smart Display Charger review: a quirky and compact charging companion
Charging your phone doesn’t have to be boring — Anker’s new charger makes faces at you as you juice your devices up, and its ultra-compact build makes it easy to recommend.
Anker has released a quirky smart display charger that adds a playful twist to the charging process. During my week-long testing, I was impressed with its overall performance, but the question remains: is it worth the price? Let's dive into the details.
The standout feature of this charger is its display, which showcases a charging blob character that reflects various emotions based on the charger's status and the device's temperature. While the display adds charm, it also serves a practical purpose. Touching a button next to the screen allows you to view information like power output and temperature.
Moreover, you can enable Care Mode, which keeps the charger around 20°C cooler than safety limits and the device's battery around 5°C cooler, protecting long-term battery health.
The charger's compact design is another highlight, making it perfect for tight spaces or travel. However, the UK model I tested lacks foldable prongs, which can be inconvenient for pocket storage. The US variant, though, folds away completely. In terms of performance, the charger works as expected, charging my Samsung Galaxy S24 FE in about 80 minutes. However, it may not be suitable for devices with advanced charging capabilities, such as the Xiaomi 17, which supports 100W wired charging.
The charger offers dynamic, three-stage charging with Fast, Steady, and Trickle modes, ensuring your device receives the right amount of power safely. It also recognizes iPhones, displaying its specific model on the screen. Anker plans to provide free updates to recognize upcoming iPhone models. The charger comes in a range of colors, including the Orange model, which I found particularly eye-catching. Priced at $39.99 / £34.99 (about AU$55), it's a reasonable investment for the quality and performance it offers.
In conclusion, the Anker Nano 45W Smart Display Charger is a solid choice for those seeking a compact, reliable, and visually appealing charger. It's ideal if you prioritize portability or want a charger with character. However, if you need to charge multiple devices simultaneously or have a particularly power-hungry device, explore other options like the UGreen Nexode RG 65W or the UGreen Uno Charger 100W.
