In 2025, Matt, an Australian who has called Malaysia home for over a decade, founded Outstation Boots. The brand specializes in casual, lifestyle heritage boots that are handcrafted in a Kuala Lumpur workshop. Matt, who spent most of his career in the corporate world, transformed his passion for high-end dress shoes into a full-time career making boots.

His handcrafted boots, made from premium leather, are lightweight, durable, and water-resistant. The boots come in various designs, such as the "Wanderer" and "Homestead," designed for different occasions and activities. Matt aims to challenge the perception that boots are too hot and bulky for Malaysia, as his creations weigh under 500g and offer a comfortable wearing experience.

The boots are made using the stitchdown construction method, a technique that dates back to the 17th century. Matt currently runs the business as a one-man operation, dedicating around 40% of his time to hands-on production and the remaining 60% to managing the business. He provides consulting services and workshops for individuals interested in the bootmaking industry.

Matt's long-term goal is to establish Outstation Boots as the premier boot brand in Malaysia, with plans to scale up production in a factory as demand grows.
