RM1,000 handcrafted boots proudly made in Malaysia

Malaysia's Outstation Boots, established by former corporate professional Matt in 2025, is shaking up the country's perception of footwear with its handcrafted, lightweight and durable boots. The Australian-born founder, who has lived in Malaysia for over a decade, turned his passion for making high-end dress shoes into a full-time career last year.

His handcrafted boots, priced from RM900 upwards, are designed for various situations, from urban wear to outdoor activities, and are made using a stitchdown construction method dating back to the 17th century. Made from premium leather, the boots are water-resistant and weigh under 500g, making them more comfortable than traditional boots.

Despite being self-taught, Matt spends at least 30 hours handcrafting each pair in his Kuala Lumpur home workshop. His business primarily caters to slow-fashion enthusiasts, executives, farmers, healthcare workers, and oil and gas workers, with a growing number of young locals interested in investing in high-quality products. Matt hopes to expand Outstation Boots from a home-based operation to a factory in the future, aiming to become the quintessential Malaysian boot brand.
