Phillies get ridiculous Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber trade suggestion from MLB insider

Phillies fans were left disappointed once more in 2026 after losing Game 3 of the NL Wild Card to the Atlanta Braves. Despite the team's struggles, a suggestion from MLB insider Ken Rosenthal to trade either Bryce Harper or Kyle Schwarber has been deemed completely ridiculous. Rosenthal, from The Athletic, acknowledges that significant changes are needed for the Phillies to contend, but trading either superstar is an extreme step.

Both Harper and Schwarber are the team's best hitters, with full no-trade clauses and four-year contracts. Trading them would not only be a misguided effort but also a step too far for the Phillies, who aim to compete next year. The suggestion from Rosenthal is dismissed as a horrible one, and neither Dave Dombrowski nor Jon Middleton should sign off on such a trade.
