Dallas Cowboys cornerback Joey Porter Jr. is generating controversy after rejoining his new team following a brief stint on the sideline due to injury. ESPN's Adam Schefter announced on Friday that Porter Jr. would be available to make his debut for the Cowboys in Sunday's Week 4 game against the Houston Texans. The acquisition came in a significant trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where the Cowboys exchanged Porter Jr. for a 2028 second-round pick and a conditional 2027 sixth-round selection.
The trade price was notably high, but the Cowboys are confident Porter Jr. can strengthen their secondary. However, Porter Jr.'s rapid return has drawn substantial criticism from fans on social media, with many accusing him of faking his injury or demanding more money. Some even called for a league suspension, while others described his swift recovery as miraculous.
Despite the backlash, the Cowboys are optimistic that Porter Jr. can immediately make an impact in his first season with the team, having played in 47 games during his previous three NFL seasons with the Steelers.
