Anthropic launches the Claude Frontier Academy with a $100M commitment to train 10K Frontier Deployed Engineers by 2028, starting with Accenture, Bain, others (Anthropic)

The first-of-its-kind Academy trains Frontier Deployed Engineers using the same standard of skills as Anthropic's own engineers …

Anthropic has launched the Claude Frontier Academy to address the talent gap in AI implementation. The academy is committed to training 10,000 Frontier Deployed Engineers (FDEs) by the end of 2027, with a $100 million investment. The first cohort includes engineers from prominent organizations such as Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, and Novo Nordisk.

The Academy's training methodology is modeled after the medical profession, where doctors learn from experienced practitioners, apply their knowledge to real cases, and are assessed before practicing independently. Similarly, FDE Residency engineers will learn from experts, work on practical cases, and be evaluated before earning their credential. The goal is to create agentic systems that transform businesses, from optimizing processes to developing new products and services.

The program consists of two phases: the Frontier Deployed Engineer Residency and a 12-week residency. Engineers from the Residency phase work on a real-world Claude deployment at their own organization, with support from Anthropic engineers. Successful completion of the residency leads to the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer badge.

Cohorts are currently being held in San Francisco, New York, and London, with the program aiming to expand to train a total of 10,000 engineers by the end of 2027. Participating organizations can nominate their top engineers for the program through their Anthropic account team or Partner Account Manager. The Academy builds upon Anthropic's existing Claude Partner Network, which includes 46,000 firms, 175,000 Claude certifications, and nearly 4,000 graduates from the Basecamp immersive program.
