Videos: Government announces emergency LEAP package for Hohoe flood victims

The government has unveiled an emergency LEAP package to aid flood victims in the Hohoe Municipality, located in Ghana's Volta Region. This initiative aims to offer immediate assistance to households grappling with the aftermath of the devastating floods.

Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, revealed the package during a visit to evaluate the disaster's impact in Hohoe Zongo and surrounding areas on Wednesday. Dr Lartey stated that the emergency LEAP support would complement relief items already being distributed by the government to affected residents.

She emphasized that the government is taking proactive measures to support victims who have endured losses due to the flooding and to aid in their efforts to rebuild their livelihoods.

The flooding, which took place on Monday, impacted various parts of the municipality, submerging homes and other properties and disrupting residents' lives. Dr Lartey personally toured the affected communities, assessing the damage and engaging with people whose homes and livelihoods had been affected by the disaster.
